Autumn Reflections

As the light lengthens and wanes, as shadows increase and the dark deepens, I find myself drawn into the quiet of this season of transition and change. The natural rhythms in my garden resonate with my inner landscapes. The jubilant, abundant, and in my garden, seemingly chaotic growth of spring and summer reached its seasonal zenith and is finished. The sky-high dahlias gave themselves to our most recent frosts and leaves of dogwood and maple trees blanket the ground. The exuberance of color has faded into earth tones of soil and humus. The garden is drawing back into itself for rest, and eventually, renewal.

So too, are the movements of my soul. After days and weeks of expansive movement of body and spirit under the celebratory energy of bright sun and blue skies, my soul leans into seasons of rest and quietude. As I acknowledge these inner yearnings, I make more space in my days for slowing the pace and extending my time spent in contemplation. I look for ways to appreciate the shorter days and longer nights as I cultivate cozy moments steeped in gratitude for the shelter of home and hearth. This time of lengthening darkness invites introspection and a sense of drawing nearer to mystery and the integral, dynamic relationship of light and dark. As I seek more stillness, I find myself listening for the pulse of knowing and being that resides deep within and without.

Listening is at the heart of spiritual guidance. We listen and wait together illuminated by intentional companionship and care.
